Department of Biotechnology at National Formosa University (NFU) was established in 2003. NFU is located near Yunlin High-speed railway station, and within the neighborhood of Huwei Science Park, where the industry of biotechnology is considered as an important section. The campus is located in the center of Yunlin, a big agricultural county with 68% of farmland in its total area. Therefore, our academic objective is focus on improving the value of agricultural products by application of biotechnology

There are undergraduate and graduate programs in our Department. One of the primary goals is to encourage the students well prepare themselves for employment in the industry of biotechnology, and other related fields. In undergraduate program, we provide the students the best education on the practical skills of biotechnology and professional knowledge of life science, as well as cross-domain learning. And undergraduate students have opportunity to do their practical studies in the faculty Lab, as well as industry. And the graduate students are well trained to do the research study independently. Currently, all members of faculty has Ph.D. degree, and comprises four full professors, eight associate professors and two assistant professors. Research interests of our faculty include food, agricultural, environmental and Herb/medicinal Biotech-fields. And the research teamwork project and individual research plans integrate the industry demand and academic research.
